As part of our philosophy of holistic musculoskeletal care, Coastal Orthopaedic Group's rooms are built around the practice hub which is a fully-kitted out therapy area run by Body Logic Physiotherapy. This allows us to accommodate doctor/physiotherapy visits concurrently.
Chris is a Specialist Sports Physiotherapist who holds a Masters degree in Sports Physiotherapy. Chris has worked with many elite sporting teams and athletes and is currently working part-time with the West Coast Eagles and the WAIS track and field / pole vault team. He has expertise in the total rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and overseeing the progression of people back to their normal activities and also lectures in the area of sports physiotherapy.
Chris heads up the clinical team at the Bethesda Practice and oversees all aspects of sports physiotherapy, screening, prevention and management within Body Logic physiotherapy.
His interests are AFL, his family and mates and exercising.
Steve is a Physiotherapist who completed a Graduate Entry Masters Degree in Physiotherapy (Curtin University) and a Bachelor of Exercise Science in Victoria (Australian Catholic University).
He has expertise in the complete management of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, from early treatment through to full exercise rehabilitation and is also skilled in sports injury prevention through the use of musculoskeletal screening.
Steve is currently working with the State Football Academy, and has had many years experience with state level football (WAFL & VFL) both as a player and a team Physiotherapist.
Steve is also currently teaching part-time at Curtin University in both the undergraduate and masters level Physiotherapy degrees.
Nicole is a Physiotherapist who graduated with distinction from Curtin University Western Australia. She is experienced in dealing with sporting and musculoskeletal injuries and their rehabilitation.
Nicole has a specific interest in adolescents and sport. Adolescence is quite a different phase from childhood and adulthood and her treatment and management plans are specifically designed for adolescents. The adolescent years are a time of growth and development of all the body systems, including the neuro-musculoskeletal system. This is of particular importance to sports and injuries/physiotherapy as the motor control and coordination centres are changing. Nicole utilises her training in pilates to aid the development of balance, co-ordination, concentration and good postural habits in kids and teenagers.
In the past Nicole has been involved with the State 19's Netball team and the State School Rugby Union 18's. Nicole is currently working part time at the West Coast Eagles.
Travis Arthur is a Physiotherapist who completed his Physiotherapy degree at Curtin University Western Australia and is currently undertaking his Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy at La trobe University in Melbourne. Travis has recently returned to Australia after working in the UK at a number of specialist clinics including Reebok Sports Institute in London and Crystal Palace Sports Centre. Travis has also had the opportunity of working alongside Dr. Otto Chan (Consultant Radiologist) and Dr. Peter Malliaris (Consultant Physio) in a specialized tendinopathy clinic in London. Travis has expertise in a wide variety of sporting and musculoskeletal injuries, and has a particular interest in shoulder and knee injuries including rehabilitation post surgery and tendinopathy injuries.
Travis has recently finished travelling with Athletics Australia team as Physiotherapist for the Pole Vault team in their lead up to the London Olympics. Travis is also teaching part-time at Curtin University in both the undergraduate and masters Physiotherapy degrees.
Lauren Shelley completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 1998 (University of Melbourne), and a Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy in 2010 (La Trobe University). She is currently completing her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy and is a certified Polestar Pilates Instructor. Lauren has a strong interest in the management of chronic disease, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, including specific exercise rehabilitation and clinical pilates. She is passionate about the importance of physical activity and self management for athletes and non-athletes alike.
Having competed for many years in distance running and triathlons, Lauren has a particular interest in persistent sporting lumbopelvic and lower limb problems, including optimising running and cycling biomechanics for injury prevention and high performance. She also provides 'bike fit' services.
Chiara is a sports physiotherapist with extensive experience in both private and public hospital work as well as private practice. She has provided in-patient physiotherapy services at Bethesda Hospital for the past 6 years and has extensive experience with orthopaedic post operative physiotherapy rehabilitation.
Jill has many years experience in physiotherapy working in private practice and private hospitals, in the areas of Orthopaedics and Gerontology. She has a particular interest in the area of post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation, with extensive experience in rehabilitation of patients post joint replacement surgery.She has provided inpatient physiotherapy services to Bethesda Hospital for the past 7 years. Jill also provides physiotherapy cover to the Bethesda Palliative Care Unit as required.
